Learning & Development Project Specialist

SUMMARY: Conduct programs to educate credit union associates and participates in development & learning of training programs that reflect the training needs and strategic plan of the credit union including technical training delivery. Ensures that ongoing development of all associates addresses strategic priorities and promotes standard of quality service to members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Work with other departments regarding projects and initiatives, determining the proper communication venue for updates, changes and reminders to best support associates.
  • Organize and deliver content, coordinating with others to provide information and assistance.
  • Closely work with management and SME’s regarding policy and procedure changes to ensure education material accurately reflects future modifications.
  • Gathers information and conducts research and participates in the analysis of data in the training needs assessment process to identify training objectives and determine training priorities.
  • Ensure the learning delivery of all areas of responsibility match the "day in the life" of the applicable job function daily operation to offer a consistent practice statewide.
  • Confers with management and staff and utilizes all resources and sources of information in performing this assessment.
  • Assists in the development of classroom and virtual training programs, including creating agenda, preparing outlines, writing scripts and leader's guides, designing laboratory exercises, and developing handouts and/or tests and assessments.
  • Schedules classes based on classroom and equipment availability.
  • Conducts virtual classes using e-learning software.
  • Able to facilitate any of the classroom or virtual classes offered by the Education & Learning Department.
  • Demonstrates procedures being taught with reasonable level of expertise and accuracy
  • Observes trainees in laboratory and answers trainees' questions on procedures and materials used in courses.
  • Administers written and practical exams and prepares appraisals to evaluate the trainees' performance during the training program.
  • Maintains communication with trainee's managers during training process and apprises managers if action is required.
  • Participates in on-going refinement and improvement of courses.
  • Tracks and analyzes questions being asked and evaluation form responses for future refinement of existing courses or development of new courses.
  • Seeks out new ideas and methods to improve training methods and procedures and content and course materials.
  • Investigates and researches available training methods and procedures to determine new or improved methods, as well as new and improved content materials.
  • Participates in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to obtain information useful to training facility and integrates information into training program.
  • Prior experience in sales is required.
  • Develop an understanding of Credit Union philosophy, organization, bylaws, and operational procedures and comply with the requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act, AML, OFAC and all other applicable State and Federal Financial Institution Regulations.
  • Participates in other projects as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous credit union or banking experience preferred.
