Mortgage Loan Officer Assistant - Prescott Area, AZ

Summary

Loan Officer Assistants support Mortgage Loan Originators in generating loan applications, follow-up with members and real estate agents, collecting and analyzing supporting documentation, monitor compliance with each loan file, and preparing loan files for submission to Operations. The LOA plays an important role in the mortgage process by acting as a competent point of contact for members and agents, freeing up time for the MLO to conduct business development activities, leading to increased production. The Loan Officer Assistant aspires to a career in mortgage sales or operations. Any individual who meets the definition of a mortgage loan originator and is employed by a federal agency-regulated institution will need to be registered on NMLS.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage the loan process from origination to funding, analyzing documentation, anticipating needs, and proactively taking action.

  • Collects application deposit, collects required documentation, and communicates loan application status to members and real estate agents.

  • Responds to inquiries from members, real estate agents, title companies, and mortgage operations associates.

  • Follows-up with members to complete electronic consent procedures when applicable.

  • Ensures disclosure packages are delivered within compliance.

  • Uploads documentation and packages loan applications for submission to processing.

  • Reviews appraisals and reports information to members.

  • Sets appointments with members, prospects, and external strategic partners on behalf of MLO.

  • Works with title companies to coordinate scheduled loan closings to MLO calendar.

  • Supports a maximum of three mortgage loan officers and approximate pipeline of 90-120 active mortgage loan files.

  • May occasionally originate mortgage loan applications and lock rates directly in the loan origination system.

  • May occasionally conduct outbound sales calls to members, prospects, and real estate agents.

  • Develop an understanding of Credit Union philosophy, organization, bylaws, and operational procedures and comply with the requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act, AML, OFAC and all other applicable State and Federal Financial Institution Regulations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma

  • Registered or eligible for registration to Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS)

  • Three years experience in position with related skills and responsibilities
